The Focke Wulf Fw 190 was one of the most successful combat aircraft of World War Two and its introduction into service on the English Channel coast in 1941 marked the beginning of a period of heavy losses and mounting alarm for the Royal Air Force. Imperial War Museum has a Fw 190A-8/R6, Werknummer 733 682. This aircraft was which "pure" fighter. It's initial operational career is not documented, but what we know is that it was later assigned to IV./KG200 where it flew as a top component of a Mistel S-3B (with Junkers Ju 88H-1).

FW-190 A-8 Tactics .. I try to extend with the 190's better speed, but even I-16s are able to magically keep up with me.. It's such a shame because dcs's a8 is a joy to fly. Apparently they are trying to update it so that ai aircraft will be affected by the laws of physics but it could be some time.

The Fw 190 was on its back, with little airspeed. The sudden change in torque hurled the aircraft into a spin. Tank's artificial horizon toppled (the cause is not explained). Although Tank did not know whether he was in an upright or inverted spin, he managed to recover after a loss of altitude.
